ACOMA PUEBLO POTTER

Sharon Lewis | Acoma Potter | Penfield Gallery of Indian Art | Albuquerque | New Mexico

Sharon Lewis is a former sister-in-law of the well known Lewis sisters, including Carolyn Concho, Diane Lewis and Rebecca Lucario. Sharon began selling to Penfield Gallery in the late 1970s when she starting making seed pots with the help of her former sisters-in-law. Sharon is a master potter whose designs painted with traditional colors are intricate, balanced, and attractive. Sharon's work for years focused on painting traditional Mimbres designs found in the old, ancient pottery chards in Southwestern New Mexico near Silver City. Sharon has recently created seed pots with swirling and flowing lines. Sharon shows annually at the prestigious Santa Fe Indian Market.
