Marilyn Ray | Acoma Storyteller Artist | Penfield Gallery of Indian Arts | Albuquerque | New Mexico Marilyn RaY was born in 1954, and is one of the well known Lewis sisters from Acoma Pueblo. The sisters include Judy Lewis, Carolyn Concho, Diane Lewis, and Rebecca Lucario. Marilyn was influenced in her pottery development by her grandmother, Dorthy S. Sanchez (d). Marilyn creates beautiful storytellers and friendship bowls. Marilyn's storytellers and other figurines are made traditionally using native Acoma clay and the Pueblo's natural vegetal pigments. Marlyn's pieces are complex and intricate. She has won many awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and other venues. Marilyn won First Place in the Figures/Manas Category in the August 2014 Santa Fe Indian Market.
