Please report broken links
The internet provider where our web site is housed managed to turn everything upside down on us and required the name of every page to be changed. We have had a chaotic two weeks and hope that everything is coming under control now. but some links may still be broken. If you come upon any broken links, please report them (giving the full address of the missing page).

Sandpainter Frank Martin filmed for Japanese television
Yesterday filming was completed of sandpainter Frank Martin creating his art for a show to appear on Japanese television.
Much of the coordination for this event, with Frank, the producers, the Navajo film office and various production assistants and drivers was handled through Ruth here at the Penfield Gallery in cooperation with Foutz Trading Post in Shiprock. Frank enjoyed the experience. He phoned Ruth after the shooting had finished and said he found it interesting and that it was a good experience being in front
of the camera.

Julia Penfield Reidy: June 26, 1909 - January 2, 2004
Long time customers of the Penfield Gallery will be saddened to learn of the death of Ruth's mother, Julia Penfield Reidy. Julia retired from teaching in 1975, where she had been teaching at the Corrales Elementary School. She then opened the Penfield Gallery in Albuquerque where she was a regular fixture until last Sept. 6. Julia established strong relationships with the Pueblo and Navajo artists of New Mexico, making the Penfield Gallery an excellent source of fine Native American arts.
Julia was a teacher, artist and businesswoman, a magnificent woman, one of the most ethical and honest persons ever to grace the earth. She was progressive in her views on politics and on social and environmental issues and was a lifelong Democrat, active in Democratic party politics from a young age. Julia was the consummate New Mexican, a native New Mexican who loved her state and her Lincoln County heritage.
Funeral services were held on January 7, 2004 at the Lincoln Community Church, Lincoln, NM.
